A cabinet for a bankruptcy trustee

The client kept hundreds of cases in two Excel workbooks: the contract plan and actual payments. We did not bolt an agent onto a spreadsheet — we built a cabinet where the case, schedule, documents and payments live together, and the agent runs the cycle.

What broke in the spreadsheet

A bankruptcy trustee runs dozens of procedures at once: restructuring, asset sale, document collection before filing. The books were two files — the plan and the payments.

In practice: hundreds of clients, a column per month since 2021, payments typed into cells by hand. Client files sat elsewhere, in cloud folders and chats.

An agent in Excel does not remove the mess

The agent can find a client, compute a balance and enter a payment. That is faster than hands, but the workbook stays a dump: data spread across columns, files not tied to the case, overdue amounts visible only if you open the right sheet.

What was needed was a ledger: a case card, a document pack, a schedule and a payment history in one place — and an agent that works with that system, not with cells.

One contract for the person and the agent

The home screen is an overview: active cases, overdue schedule rows, incomplete document packs, archive. The Cases menu item shows the overdue count without opening the list.

The case card has document progress, four numbers (price / scheduled / paid / remaining), client and court data, an editable schedule and a “record payment” action. Separate sections cover clients, referral partners and dictionaries the client configures.

API docs live inside the cabinet. The browser UI and the agent API share the same data model. The agent wrote its own skill: create a client from a contract, build a schedule, file documents by type, record a payment and recompute the remainder.

The debtor does not learn a new system

Documents arrive however people already send them: in person, by email, in a messenger. The agent classifies each file and puts it on the case. A receipt becomes a payment; a certificate becomes a required document.

For debtors who want to track their own case, the agent added a Telegram bot: payment schedule and “send a document”. Nothing to install.

What stays with the human

The agent prepares the pack and a draft filing, keeps the ledger and flags overdue payments. The trustee reviews the documents and files them with the court. Judgment stays with the person — the bookkeeping routine goes to the agent.
